Job Description
Grow your career at Virginia Tech’s award-winning Advancement program by joining one of the university’s most seasoned fundraising teams. The Gift Planning team at Virginia Tech offers the opportunity to work on some of the university’s largest and most complex gifts, and to partner with three professionals having over 50 years of combined charitable gift planning experience.
Reporting to the Director of Gift Planning, the Assistant Director of Gift Planning will work with the university’s alumni, friends and their advisors in order to educate, solicit, and complete deferred gifts and complex outright on behalf of all areas of the university. The Assistant Director, working closely with college and university programs development officers and senior administration, will be responsible for managing a portfolio of prospects and securing major outright and deferred gifts of $100,000+ from private sources in support of endowment, capital projects, and current operations. He/She will fulfill these duties under the direction of and in close cooperation with the university’s central development office.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree or Bachelor’s degree with significant relevant experience
Demonstrated experience in fundraising, sales/marketing, advertising, public relations, communications, law, accounting, financial services, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in fundraising or sales.
Demonstrated experience working in higher education or for a non-profit organization
Demonstrated experience working with charitable gift planning
Demonstrated experience working with estate planning, tax, law, accounting, wealth management, or financial services
