Salary and Benefits

The salary range will be from $72,000 - $78,000 per year.

This position is a Management Personnel Plan (MPP) position in the CSU, and serves at the pleasure of the President.

The CSU enjoys a generous benefits program with employer paid life insurance ($100,000), as well as health, dental, and vision insurance with the monthly premium largely paid by the CSU. Additionally, we offer a broad range of other benefits which includes dependent and health care reimbursement accounts, tuition fee waiver, 401k, 457 and 403(b) plans.

The CSU belongs to the CalPERS retirement plan in which medical and dental insurance continues in qualified retirement.

The CSU has 14 paid holidays and the position earns 24 days of vacation and 12 days of sick leave per year.

About the Position

Cal State East Bay, an NCAA Division II California Collegiate Athletic Association member, is currently seeking an Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations (AAFDO). In support of the Athletic Department, the Assistant AD for Facilities & Operations serves as a member of the Athletic Department Administrative team and independently coordinates the management and scheduling of Athletic facilities and events. The AADFO serves as a member of the AVP/AD’s leadership team and participates in the development and execution of department programs, policies, and procedures. This position serves as the primary administrator for designated sport oversight including but not limited to supervision of head coaches, monitoring budgets, developing schedules, approving team travel and expenses, overseeing student-athlete wellness, and evaluating the success of program outcomes. Serves on NCAA, CCAA, and university committees as assigned.

Responsibilities

Facilities Management
Serves as a liaison with Facilities Management overseeing the day to day maintenance and upkeep of all athletic facilities.
Responsible for the scheduling of facilities including but not limited to working with coaches, staff, campus partners, and outside renters.
Serves as the primary department contact for campus facilities.
Works in conjunction with FD&O to manage work orders, repair projects, and regular maintenance.
Oversight of facilities and equipment budgets.
Responsible for management, storage, procurement, and assessment of equipment.
Serves as lead for capital projects and planning.

Operations
Oversight of home contest management including staffing, training, scheduling, and procedures.
Responsible for management of equipment, apparel, and merchandise including the direct supervision of equipment managers, laundry staff, etc.
In collaboration with Athletics leadership team, creates department policies and procedures.
Oversight and direct supervision of intern and student-worker staff.
In collaboration with Sports Information Director create and manage department event calendars.

Department Administration
Consultation on staffing and adjustments to organizational chart.
Development and curating of department policies and procedures.
Forecasts vision for department direction and fit for institutional long term initiatives.
Anticipates roadblocks for designated responsibilities in sustainable execution of outcomes.
Consults as requested with Budget & Finance department.
Acts as designated administrator internally as necessary.

Sport and Coach Supervision
Serve as sport supervisor for Cross Country Track & Field and Baseball.
Responsible for working with head coaches in program management, planning, and budget oversight.
Attends necessary competitions for designated sports.

This position has been identified to have significant responsibility for student and campus activities and will be required to function as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the Clery Act. In accordance with CSU Executive Order 1107, Implementation of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the incumbent will be responsible for reporting allegations of Clery Act crimes to the University Police Department and/or the University Clery Director.
Responsibilities of the CSA include:
Complete annual training requirements.
Report any alleged Clery Act Crimes that are reported to them using the online CSA Reporting Form.
All alleged Clery Act Crimes should be reported in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree

Knowledge of NCAA requirements and standards of competition.
Experience working with and understanding athletic facilities needs.
Ability to work with diverse populations.
Ability to contribute to a professional organization.
Strong organizational skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of two years experience leading and/or supervising professional staff.
Minimum of three years working in collegiate athletics.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge

Experience hosting conference and/or NCAA post season.
Working knowledge of playing surface needs and requirements.
Understanding of capital project evolution.
Master's degree is preferred.
