Job Description:

SUNY Empire State College seeks an experienced student services professional to provide leadership and high-level and confidential support to the Provost, Vice Provosts, Deans and Student Services teams, and to students.  The Executive Director of College Student Services will be tasked with a variety of duties that include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Providing leadership and guidance across the institution on student facing due process policies and issues
  • Serving as the institution's liaison with SUNY legal counsel for student cases where appropriate and required
  • Addressing and/or appropriately referring student complaints and concerns directed to senior leadership
  • Leading, student, faculty and staff development regarding student policy, procedures and resources
  • Developing procedures and, administering and supervising student conduct processes and cases
  • Reviewing and preparing final student appeals documentation and recommending options for disposition for Provost/Vice Provost

The individual will ensure consistency of practice, and excellent case management across multiple institutional units, while empowering academic leadership and student service professionals and staff to address student concerns effectively.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree from a regionally accredited US university or comparable non-US university
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience within Student Affairs or Student Services
  • Demonstrated complex problem-resolution and de-escalation skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with due process and/or US legal or regulatory matters affecting student relations
  • Experience with post-traditional students

Special Information:

  • This position will be located at one of the SUNY Empire State College NY state regional locations
  • Occasional travel may be required
  • VISA sponsorship is not available for this position

Additional Information:

Rank/Salary: Management/Confidential / $80,000-$85,000, dependent upon experience and qualifications.
