Position Title CNA Program Coordinator FLSA Exempt Contract Length 12 months Class Summary
Responsible for providing instruction within the appropriate department/program. Programs include potential assignments in any program in the COM Nursing Department. Develop and revise curriculum and course work. Provide scheduled office hours for student consultation. Serves on College committees as needed and assigned. Participate in student orientation, instructional, and advisement activities as needed and assigned. Master’s of Science Degree in Nursing. Must have a current Texas RN license or eligible for Texas licensure. Consistent active work experience within the past three (3) years in the nursing field required and with at least one year of providing long term care services in a facility; Preferred Education/Training/Experience
Doctoral Degree in Nursing. One (1) year of teaching experience in a community college setting. Minimum Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of the Nurse Aide Training & Competency Evaluation Program ( NATCEP ) rules and regulations and Texas Administrative Code Chapter 556, Nurse Aides Rules)
Must be a credentialed Nursing faculty member.
Must demonstrate principles and practices of teaching & training to include:
- Training techniques;
- Detailed knowledge of material being taught in the specific course and program area;
- Knowledge of student engagement techniques;
- Record keeping procedures.
- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with students, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. Preferred Knowledge & Skills

CNA Program Director’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:
(A) directing the NATCEP in compliance with the Act and this chapter;
(B) directly performing training or having general supervision of the program instructor and supplemental trainers;
© ensuring that NATCEP records are maintained;
(D) determining if trainees have passed the training portion of the NATCEP ;
(E) signing a competency evaluation application completed by a trainee who has passed the training portion of the NATCEP ; and
(F) signing a certificate of completion or a letter on letterhead stationery of the NATCEP or the facility, stating that the trainee passed the training portion of the NATCEP if the trainee does not take the competency evaluation with the same NATCEP . The certificate or letter must include the date training was completed, the total training hours completed, and the official NATCEP name and number on file with HHSC (Texas Administrative Code Chapter 556, Nurse Aides RULE §556.5) Licensing/Certification Requirements
Must be licensed to practice registered nursing in the state of Texas. Physical Requirements
-May work indoors in classroom, skills lab, and office, travel to clinical assignments. Work with students, staff, and patients during clinical teaching experience. Occasional irregular hours or weekend work.
-Clinical shifts will be for a period of 12 hours.
-Physical: High physical demand. Must be able to stoop, bend, lift up to 50 pounds, and assist in patient care/clinical teaching situations, or demonstrate ability to perform tasks successfully. Possible exposure to communicable diseases through patient care clinical experience. Occasionally assist in two-person lifting of patients. Identifying specific weights lifted in a transfer is difficult because it is dependent upon the amount of assistance the patient is able to offer.
