Scope of Job:
To provide the daily checkout, operation, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of all assigned IT Media Systems and film video equipment for the theatre department, such as classroom technology systems, video and videoconferencing technology systems, and digital signage technology systems in support of UTRGV faculty, students, staff and visitors.

Description of Duties:
• Provides daily checkout, operation, support, and preventative maintenance of video equipment for theatre student activities and classes.
• Performs routine installation, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance on all assigned video equipment and systems, including classroom technology systems, video systems, and special media systems.
• Performs hardware and software support for IT systems, including but not limited to computer systems, network monitoring systems, I.P. video recording systems, video networking systems, video cameras, microphones/mixers/amplifiers/speakers, projectors, monitors, and media recorders of various types.
• Tests, troubleshoots, diagnoses and corrects all video equipment to ensure proper operations.
• Installs and/or upgrades computer software and operating systems of all video equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Keeps written records and reports of all equipment checkout activities and scheduled student film events.
• Purchases all audio/video film equipment/control cables and connections as required for new installations/repairs.
• Keeps up to date with information about evolving film video equipment trends for improvements of current systems (upgrades, best practices).
• Makes recommendations for tools, video equipment, office supplies, etc. for daily operations.
• Maintains an inventory of the Film/Theatre equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervision Received:
Specific supervision from assigned supervisor.

Supervision Given:
Direct supervision of assigned support staff

Required Education:
Associates Degree in Information Technology field, or 60 hours of College Credit with a minimum of 18 hours in IT related coursework.

Preferred Education:
Bachelor’s in Theatre/Film or Communications preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:
None.

Required Experience:
• One (1) year of experience in technical support related to computer hardware, audio, video and computer equipment, multimedia display and control systems, networking and/or experience performing software upgrades, or
• Three (3) years of the required experience with a High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Experience:
Professional video equipment experience preferred.

Equipment:
Use of standard office equipment. Knowledge in hardware and software related to video, networking, audio/video/multimedia/presentation hardware and software installation, setup, and maintenance. Knowledge in conferencing technology operation and installation.

Working Conditions:
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties, including setting up and connection of needed systems. Ability to lift equipment up to 30 pounds and perform work on ladders. Construction environment during installation projects along with office environment some travel and evening/weekend work is required.

Other:
This position will be subject to a pre-employment physical.
