Scope of Job:
Responsible for the daily operations of the Student Experience Internship (SEI) program, a creation of a job shadowing program, and experiential learning programs specifically to provide career related support to freshmen, sophomores, and transfer students. To develop a comprehensive employer recruiting communication strategy, cultivates key partnerships, and establishes an extended professional network to effectively promote and market students and programs to local and national employers.

Description of Duties:
  • Collaborates with Career Center staff and relevant stakeholders to grow employment connections and career-related experiential learning opportunities (e.g., job shadowing, externships, internships, and co-ops) for all university students, especially students who are underserved or underemployed.
  • Ensures that the implementation of the assigned programs and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with specified objectives.
  • Participates in planning and developing methods for program implementation and administration; coordinates program activities.
  • Supervises the day-to-day activities of assigned programs and initiatives to ensure that program objectives are being met.
  • Delivers programming to inform and educate students on a broad range of career-related experiential learning opportunities.
  • Provides resources for faculty, staff, and students to connect student learning outcomes such as internships opportunities, career planning, and/or employment opportunities to available student applicants.
  • Collaborates with campus partners and academic colleges to scale, size and impact of current on-campus internship opportunities.
  • Partners with campus and key stakeholders to increase employer engagement with academic colleges through innovative programs and partnerships.
  • Collaborates with campus partners to develop resources for stakeholders who supervise career-related experiential learning opportunities for students.
  • Coordinates career development programs involving employers, including, but not limited to, career fairs, employer information sessions, employer tabling, networking, interviewing, and company tours.
  • Promotes and executes events and outreach programs that are designed to further career-related experiential learning goals.
  • Reviews records and reports of activities to ensure progress is being accomplished toward specified program objective; recommends modifications to methods or procedures as required to redirect activities and ensure that objective is attained.
  • Prepares recurring program reports for management use or as required for project or program.
  • Ensures that data related to assigned projects is collected and shared with key stakeholders.
  • May conduct formal training or instruction in a classroom setting.
  • Leverages technology to manage relationships, increase effectiveness of outreach, and further promote UTRGV students and alumni.
  • Attends meetings, conferences, and seminars related to the program’s mission and goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university

Preferred Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Marketing and or Communications degree from an accredited university.


Required Experience:
  • One (1) year of working in a student facing environment proving general student support or job-related experience, or
  • Three (3) years of the required experience with an Associate Degree or 60 hours of College Credit, or
  • Five (5) years of the required experience with a High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Experience:

As specified for the particular job.

Working Conditions:
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment.

Effectively communicating the value of career related experiential learning opportunities and leveraging influence in promoting value with UTRGV academic stakeholders.
