Position Description Summary/Purpose :
This position is responsible for instructing several courses in various manufacturing areas. Individuals should possess extensive manufacturing knowledge, as well as understanding the full machining processes to manufacture parts. The ideal candidate for this position will need to be able to teach three or more of the following areas:
- CNC Machining / Programming (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced)
- cad/cam software and materials.
- Metrology and Calibration
- Blueprint Reading (GD&T)
- Manufacturing Math
- MasterCam / Solidworks
- Lean Principles
- Manufacturing Materials
- Swiss Screw Machine set-up and operation
- Mechatronics
- Quality inspection tools and processes
- CMM

- Desire to teach
- Organize and keep course curriculum up to date.
- Helps make improvements to overall CNC Program.
- Performs skilled laboratory functions in support of University coursework.
- Operates, sets up and instructs on CNC Machines, Manual Mill & Lathe, Surface Grinder and Live-Tooling Lathe.
- Enforces Shop Safety Regulations.
- Operates, maintains, and makes minor adjustments and repairs on the lab equipment.
- Assists in the procurement and commissioning of new lab equipment.
- Sets up and executes a preventative maintenance schedule for the lab equipment.
- Instructs students in the proper and safe use of lab equipment and tools.
- Explains and demonstrates operation of the lab equipment to the students.
- Maintains inventory of lab tooling and supplies, and purchase if necessary.
- Maintains appropriate safety standards in the lab.
- Supports students while engaged in laboratory learning experiences in the Advanced Manufacturing Center.
- Conduct all work in a safe manner and adhere to all work safety practices.
- This role may require additional training on equipment relevant CNC and manual machines.
- Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
- Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
- Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.
- Associates degree or some college & relevant industry experience required, advanced degree with relevant experience a plus
- Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of Haas CNC laboratory equipment, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance/ Blueprint Reading, and Shop Math.
