Job Description:
Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure Operations, the Platform Services Manager is responsible for ensuring our cloud and on-premise server infrastructure environment is well designed, resilient, and supported. This position provides long-term strategy planning to ensure platform capacity meets future requirements including planning for remote hardware and communications facilities and the development and implementation of methodologies for system analysis, installation and support. This role is also responsible for managing the relationship with our managed cloud infrastructure services provider.
Major Areas of Responsibility
- Establish and maintain oversight over the College's managed
cloud infrastructure provider, ensuring services meet the College's
expectations through:
- Enforcement of service level agreements and other contractual obligations
- Establishment of key performance indicators
- Review of documentation and runbooks
- Monitoring of costs
- Managing project-based activities and pipelines
- Working with the Asset Manager, ensuring that College on-premise server infrastructure is current and well supported, and that lifecycle management is budgeted and accounted for.
- Develop controls to ensure optimal platform services utilization, as well as cost efficiency.
- Be an expert resource on cloud service offerings (AWS), cloud infrastructure topology, and the interconnects between on-premise and cloud infrastructure.
- Assist our third party service providers in the management of our on-premise infrastructure, and planning for the future of those environments.
- Manage the relationship with our third-party server and cloud infrastructure management provider, ensuring they are meeting their responsibilities and that we are meeting ours.
- Assist software developers with development and operations (DevOps) needs and requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and at least 7 years of relevant experience
- Expertise and certification in Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Experience working with third party service providers is a plus.
- Strong communication, team building, and collaboration skills required.
- Higher education experience is preferred.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, exempt level position. The College is committed to providing competitive market pay for its employees. The annual salary for this position ranges from $85,000 - $95,000 and is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
