Open Rank Tenure Line Faculty, Criminal Justice and Criminology #202215TTL

The School of Criminal Justice and Criminology at Texas State University invites applicants for up to two full-time (nine-month) tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and/or Professor, to begin in Fall 2022.  Appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor includes the possibility of tenure (contingent on approval of the Board of Regents).  Responsibilities include high-quality research, undergraduate and graduate level teaching, and university, professional, and community service. 

The School of Criminal Justice and Criminology awards Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. degrees.  For additional information about our faculty members’ research interests and many accomplishments, as well as our research and training centers visit the School of Criminal Justice and Criminology.

Required Qualifications:          

For appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, the successful candidate must have:

• Earned (or anticipate earning by the beginning of the Fall 2022 semester) a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, criminology, or related field; those who hold a J.D. only will not be considered.
• Evidence of peer-reviewed publication and ability to sustain publication productivity.

 For appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, the successful candidate must have:

• A Ph.D. in criminal justice, criminology, or related field; those who hold a J.D. only will not be considered.
• Strong record of sustained publication in peer-reviewed journals, commensurate with experience

For appointment as an Associate Professor or Professor, the successful candidate must meet the School and University established standards for persons of that rank. 

Preferred Qualifications:

All areas of expertise will be considered, but preference will be given at any rank to those applicants who: 

• Have strong methodological/analytical skills.
• Can contribute to the growth of the School’s undergraduate and graduate programs.
• Have experience working with diverse student populations.
• Can promote University and School goals to foster a diverse and inclusive environment.

For appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, additional preferred qualifications include: 

• Potential for seeking and/or securing external grant funding.
• Evidence of effective teaching.

For appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, additional preferred qualifications include:

• Record of seeking and/or securing external grant funding.
• Experience in supervising and mentoring graduate students.
