Director of Integrated Marketing Communications

Fontbonne University invites applications for a Director of Integrated Marketing Communications who will direct, develop, promote, and implement strategies and programs proactively to strengthen and maintain Fontbonne's positive image, relationships with constituents and advancement activities on Fontbonne's campus, and throughout the local region, nation, and world. With specialized attention toward student recruitment communications and projects that directly impact new student enrollment, the Director will lead and execute comprehensive and effective marketing and communications plans that directly support Fontbonne's strategic goals. This position reports to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, Marketing and Communications.

 

Duties & Expectations

Strategic Planning, Assessment and Analysis: Plan and lead the implementation of overall strategies for all marketing and communications on behalf of Fontbonne to raise the school's visibility, advance its brand, and articulate clear messaging to internal and external constituencies. Create reports and analyze reporting efforts for the measurement of website traffic, leads and revenue generated through marketing segments and campaigns. Utilizing reporting/analytics collaborate with Marketing and Communications staff to define and drive plans for content marketing assets such as blogs, email campaigns, webinars, white papers, infographics, etc. Coordinates with vendors and internal team members to produce analytics/reporting on a regular basis. Provides ad hoc reports as requested by the Vice President for Enrollment Management, Marketing and Communications.

 

Information Management and Collaboration: Develop and maintain a repository of information for Fontbonne programs, facts, community distinctions, statistics, and history. Represent Fontbonne and routinely execute informational sessions to share and gather information from internal and external stakeholders. Manage internal and external partners and stakeholders, utilizing a proactive approach and exceptional communication skills to execute across multiple cultural perspectives. Act as a player-coach, managing the Marketing and Communications team and serving as a brand steward to all school divisions to ensure cohesion across our programs.

Message Development and Implementation: Develop strategic communication plans for Fontbonne University and lead the Marketing and Communications department, which implements these plans across all communication channels. Curate, develop, and communicate Fontbonne's compelling story. This message should lead to increased admission applications and should support the efforts of Advancement.

Promoting Visibility and Public Relations: Develop, oversee, and implement external and campus communications strategies. Manage and execute strategies to cultivate media relations strategies and placements. Ensure Fontbonne's brand and reputation are strengthened by promoting and sharing new developments, distinctions, and thought leadership. Coordinate training sessions on media engagement and communication practices. Develop and manage a crisis communication plan.

Staff and Vendor Oversight: Supervise, mentor, and develop Marketing and Communications department staff. Assess effectiveness and manage operational improvement plans. Determine the need for out-sourcing of projects and/or targeted job elements as appropriate based on skills needed or other circumstances. Prioritize Fontbonne's best interests, brand and reputation, and financial resources by appropriately managing, monitoring, and assessing the performance and quality of out-sourced projects. Work with agency partners and team members to devise and continuously improve SEO/SEM strategy and execution. This work culminates with SEO/SEM Strategies, Email marketing, Content marketing, and Marketing technologies, and more to drive enrollment growth.

Budget Oversight: Oversee Marketing and Communications budget and vendor contracts. Provide final approval for financial transactions and purchasing. Create and maintain a system for effective monitoring of budget and inventory.

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in marketing, communication, public relations, advertising, or related field.
  • At least seven years in marketing and communication, and with progressive roles and duties.
  • Experience building brands through concept development, Web site design, identity design and marketing campaign development and implementation, including in online/digital environments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of market research principles and applications.
  • Valid driver's license required.

 

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Master's degree in marketing, communications, advertising, or related field.
  • Ten years or more of demonstrated success working in undergraduate admissions at an accredited, non-profit college or university.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in applying principles of integrated marketing in higher education to support enrollment efforts and advance the brand of an institution.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated success in supporting CRM systems to manage recruitment communications and student engagement.
  • Demonstrated success working with underrepresented students and communities.
  • Demonstrated analytical and budgetary skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and develop individual staff with varying levels of experience.
  • Demonstrated success cultivating and managing positive and fruitful relationships with internal and external constituents.
