OVERVIEW

The School of Social Work in the Morrison Family College of Health at the University of St. Thomas invites applications for a tenure-track faculty member at the rank of assistant or associate professor to support the Master of Social Work (MSW) program. The position begins in Fall 2023. Qualified applicants will be considered for the role of faculty director of the MSW program. Depending on candidate qualifications, an expedited review for tenure, or years of credit toward tenure, may be negotiated.

The School of Social Work offers social work programs at the baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral levels. The undergraduate and master’s programs are fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.  The master’s program has in-person and hybrid options for students. Faculty in the Master of Social Work (MSW) program are committed to helping students develop a strong clinical social work identity, grounded in social work values and ethics; the skills to actively engage diverse client populations; a strong knowledge base with critical thinking and reflective practice skills; the capacity for leadership; and the capacity to assess and improve social work practice. QUALIFICATIONS

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR CANDIDATES

Minimum requirements for the faculty position include:

  • A DSW or PhD (U.S. or Foreign Equivalent) in Social Work or closely related field
  • At least 2 years of social work practice experience.
  • Social Work licensure in the state of Minnesota or equivalent in current state with expectation to transfer license to Minnesota
  • Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or eligible for legally required exemption such as a medical or religious reason.

For applicants interested in the MSW Program Director position, additional qualifications include:

  • Meet minimum requirements for the faculty position
  • Three years of academic administration experience in a School of Social Work
  • Experience participating in or leading curriculum revision
