• Serve as the primary contact for faculty, staff and units engaged in sponsored programs on post-award non-financial activities associated with sponsored programs and research awards.

• Develop and monitor budgets and award burn-rate to confirm good financial standing.
• Monitors sponsored award spending for allowability and compliance with federal and sponsor regulations. Managing payroll and sponsored project effort oversight.
• Review and approve budget revision requests for grant awards and process award change actions
• Coordinate with grants accounting for financial reports for awards and assist faculty and staff with the submission of annual progress reports and final reports.
• Ensure compliance with sponsoring agency regulations and requirements.
• Establish and maintain essential records and files related to grants and contracts.
• Proactively follow cleanup and closeout procedures on expired accounts according to institutional policy and good accounting practices.

• Work with Principal Investigators/Project Directors, Administration, and sponsors to provide excellent customer service and resolve complex issues related to sponsored projects.
• Develop and manage relationships across key sponsored research stakeholders; communicate with researchers, administrators, and sponsor to facilitate timely proposal submissions.
• Establish and maintain campus outreach activities in order to assure consistent fiscal management of sponsored research awards.

• Reviews contracts, subcontracts and cooperative agreements as requested by university faculty and staff, as assigned.
• Other duties in support of the smooth functioning of the Office of Sponsored Research and Programs as assigned by supervisor.

• Must be comfortable working independently and as part of a team and be comfortable meeting deadlines and balancing competing priorities.
• Knowledge of accounting standards and experience performing financial analysis.
• Demonstrate technical proficiency required to do the job; possess knowledge in the profession; provide technical expertise to others; have and use cross-functional knowledge to support interdepartmental connections.
• Knowledge of and experience in federal regulations including OMB Uniform Guidance, FAR, and other sponsored agency policies and regulations to maintain compliance with terms and conditions of the award.
• Knowledge of regulations relating to federal grants and award administration. Direct experience submitting proposals, managing awards, and working with research investigators.

• Demonstrate written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Strong customer service orientation. Experience in maintaining confidential materials.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage deadlines.
• Familiarity with Banner, Grants.gov, or ASSIST, NSF Fastlane, and proposal central, strongly preferred.
• Experience working with Microsoft Excel.

Minimum Training and Experience Requirements:  Master’s Degree or a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, management, or related field and 2 – 5 years of experience in pre- and/or post-award grant administration, preferably in an academic setting with broad understanding of academic operations and research required.

Management Preferences:  An ideal candidate will demonstrate an analytical mindset, attention to detail, critical thinking and technical skills, and ability to communicate with customers

• 3-5 years of administrative grant support experience is preferred. Certified Research Administrator (CRA/FCRA) preferred.
