The Department of Economics at the University of Houston invites
applications for 4 promotion-eligible, non-tenure track
Instructional Assistant Professor positions starting in the Fall of
2023. Our department is made up of an innovative group of scholars
who are dedicated to producing top-flight research while training
our students in the latest techniques in economic analysis. Our
department offers BA, BS, and PhD degrees in Economics, and MA
degrees in Applied Economics with about 700 undergraduate majors.

The primary responsibilities for each Instructional Assistant
Professor will be in teaching. The teaching load will be 6 sections
per academic year, divided between the Fall and Spring semesters.
The courses will be at the undergraduate and master’s levels.
Experience in and enthusiasm for teaching courses with strong
writing, research, or quantitative analysis components are
preferred. Candidates interested in teaching time series analysis,
labor economics, and financial economics are especially encouraged
In addition to the teaching responsibilities, each Instructional
Assistant Professor is expected to assist with one of the following
department's undergraduate activities: career and internship
counseling services, Micro Principles online section management,
Macro Principles online section management, and aiding the
Undergraduate Director with organizing the degree programs. We
anticipate that responsibilities may change as the needs of the
undergraduate degree programs may evolve.
