The Director is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the new student transition process, student clubs and organizations, as well as Graduate Student Engagement. This position provides year-round support to first-year student initiatives. Additionally, the Director gives support to the Office of Student Engagement for student leader development, undergraduate diversity intiatives and campus wide programming efforts. This position is responsible for supervising two Assistant Directors (Assistant Director for Leadership Development -FSL and Assistant Director for Leadership Development- Clubs and Organizations) as well as a team of student workers/interns. The Director reports to the Assistant Vice President for Student Services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide the strategic plan and structure to support the student transition process with particular attention to New Student Orientation and Welcome Weekend. This includes working with campus partners to streamline and coordinate first year student initiatives across campus. Additionally, the Director will recruit, train and maintain a student support staff for these initiatives including but not limited to Orientation Assistants.
Responsible for the supervision of the Assistant Director for Leadership Development-FSL and Assistant Director of Leadership Development-Clubs and Organizations as well as oversight of all training and diversity and inclusion initiatives for the Office of Student Engagement.
Oversee the budget management for all accounts associated with Orientation, and FYE Programming. Establish and implement necessary structure to assure compliance with University policies.
Serve as the advisor to the Inclusion Alliance supporting the leadership, general body and all programming efforts.
Provide ongoing training and development opportunities, facilitating cultural competence workshops with student leaders, creating and managing diversity related leadership initiatives, and participating in campus wide diversity initiatives.
Develop, plan and assist with major events and initiatives for the Office of Student Engagement.

Required Qualifications:

3-5 years of experience, masters degree, Professional experience in Student Affairs at a college or university setting specifically working with cultural competencies, diversity/equity/inclusion initiatives and training. Previous experience planning/implementing new student orientation activities, and graduate programming.
