As a member of AU’s Strategic Implementation team, the Project Manager is responsible for planning, execution and implementation of complex, cross-divisional projects that support AU’s Strategic Plan, Changemakers for a Changing World. The team helps identify strategic opportunities, tackle complex challenges, and implement solutions that advance the AU mission. Leveraging best practices, this position delivers results through application of program/project management practices, strategy analysis, transformation, business analytics, and process redesign services. This position works with stakeholders across the university on high-priority strategy implementation and special strategic projects.

Essential Functions
  1. Support key leadership team members from across the University in identifying, prioritizing, and implementing objectives as part of the Strategic Plan.
  2. Support multiple project teams focused on implementing the workstreams of AU’s Strategic Plan, including the identification of outcomes, work approach, timing and project plans.
  3. Scope, design and manage large scale, cross-functional strategic projects and successfully deliver on project/business objectives, working with the Executive Director of Strategic Implementation and the Strategic Plan Implementation Team.
  4. Identify issues and use problem-solving skills (including root cause analysis) to resolve issues in a timely manner. Help to break down complex issues into discrete components to analyze, diagnose, assess and assist in recommending viable solutions.
  5. Document, manage & report on a tightly integrated project schedule across multiple workstreams, always focused on the critical path.
  6. Develop project schedules, including generating/maintaining project dashboards, reporting, KPIs, risk/action logs and other artifacts.
  7. Generate documentation for necessary meetings, track delivery of follow-ups & outcomes.
  8. Develop written reports (e.g., Power Point decks, etc.) and other project updates and presentations.
  9. Facilitate communication between project team members and university leadership.

Work Environment
  • Travel required on-campus or with-in the Washington, DC area

  • Full-time position of 35 hours/week

  • Hybrid work schedule offering several days/week of remote work
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience. Work experience in project management, business management, finance, accounting, or information technology.
  • Capabilities in Excel, Power Point, Visio and Business Intelligence
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Master's degree. Master’s in Business Administration is a plus.
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience. Experience supporting complex projects and strategy work. Management consulting experience.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
