Position Summary:

In collaboration with the Program and Assistant Director, the Nursing Laboratory Director is responsible for providing leadership to meet the strategic goals of the department. Develops and implements a strategic plan for integrating simulation and skills to meet program outcomes. Collects and analyzes data related to skills and simulation necessary to meet California BRN regulations and accreditation standards.

Essential Functions :
  • Develop a strategic plan for implementation of skills and simulation into the curriculum.
  • Engage in skills validation and simulation.
  • Assist students and faculty with laboratory simulation equipment and experiences using high-fidelity simulation.
  • Analyze data related to skills and simulation and identify trends.
  • Supervise, oversee, and evaluate work performance of assigned laboratory support personnel.
  • Act as a liaison between faculty, students, staff, and administrative team.
  • Review, revise and update policies, procedures and protocols that govern simulation and skills lab.
  • Create new policies to support required projects put forth by department or University administration.
  • Conduct remediation activities to increase student retention and NCLEX pass rates.
  • Renew and approve schedules for simulation and skills lab.
  • Resolve conflicts with faculty in scheduling simulation and skills lab.
  • Orient and instruct faculty (full time and adjuncts) in use of simulation and skills lab.
  • Develop annual budget for items related to onsite nursing skills laboratory requirements.
  • Serve as point of contact for vendors and advise on financial and budgetary needs.
  • Assist teaching faculty with activities to ensure successful completion of courses.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Hire, train, develop and manage a minimum of one staff member.

Requirements:

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required, Master’s degree in nursing equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of direct patient care.
  • Unencumbered RN license in California.
  • Clinical nursing teaching experience preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work on-site in Los Angeles, California

  • Successful skills in coaching nursing faculty and students regarding clinical application of nursing care.

  • Intermediate use of computers and Microsoft Office Suite Applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
Travel: 10 percent travel may be required
