The Salve Regina University counseling programs are seeking applicants for a part-time adjunct faculty Clinical Coordinator position. We are seeking qualified applicants who have a strong counseling identity, and who are excited about the prospect of helping students engage in clinical work in an environment that aligns with our mission and philosophy. Program faculty believe in education that centers social justice, equity, and multiculturalism, and strive to ensure that all faculty engage effectively with important philosophies/discourses that support an anti-racist and equity-based perspective. Additionally, the program faculty align themselves with the university mission, which highlights the importance of mercy and justice to effective educating.

Salve Regina offers both 60 credit programs in two counseling tracks: an online Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling track and an in-person Clinical Mental Health Counseling track. We currently offer an online 48 credit CACREP (formerly CORE) approved Rehabilitation Counseling program. We are currently seeking CACREP accreditation, therefore the practicum and internship requirements for students are in alignment with the CACREP requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The clinical coordinator position for the clinical mental health and clinical rehabilitation counseling programs will include the following tasks:
  • Maintaining positive community partnerships with clinical placement sites
  • Collaborate and support the Graduate Counseling Program Director
  • Establish affiliations with clinical sites based on the rigor of the site, licensure requirements, and the needs of students in the programs
  • Teach clinically focused courses
  • Maintain a licensure as a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) or equivalent
  • Assist in maintaining the clinical management system (CMS) used to organize student hours and paperwork
  • Maintain and update clinical related documentation and clinical manual as needed
  • Help students match with clinical sites when appropriate
  • Inform students and faculty of training and workshops related to clinical elements of Rehabilitation and Mental Health issues
  • Attend trainings as needed
  • Commitment to the programmatic mission and the program's current and future perspective on mental health counselor training

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must maintain a licensure as a mental health counselor, clinical professional counselor, or other master's level counseling equivalent and be in good standing with the licensing board. Applicants who have licensures in other states should be prepared to become licensed in Rhode Island.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience and familiarity with the specialization of Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling
  • Certified Rehabilitation Counselor
  • A counseling professional who has their licensure in Rhode Island or a surrounding state
  • Experience in supervising or instructing counselors in training
  • Skills in creating and maintaining relationships with community organizations
  • Expertise through work experience or service in working with diverse populations
  • Expertise in working with underserved populations, not-for-profit, or grassroots organizations that prioritize equity and social justice
