Responsibilities
The position of Credential Analyst & Academic Services Coordinator is responsible for the review and submission of credential applications to the state of California (Commission on Teacher Credentialing).This position uses critical thinking skills to analyze transcripts and student records for multiple purposes; works collaboratively as a member of the KSOE Accreditation and Student Success team with the academic departments within the School as well as campus wide. Additionally, this position will utilize campus student information systems (Slate, Colleague, Informer) as well as Excel and imaging applications in addition to other tools to analyze student records.
Credential Analyst:
* Communicates Credential Recommendation processes and key deadlines to enrolled students
* Credential document review, confirmation of documents received, and submission of institutional recommendation to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing for all KSOE credential programs
* Provide support, advising and respond promptly to student requests as it pertains to credential requirements and document submission.Communicate the status of credential document submission progress and updates to departments and students as needed (including monitor additional credential inbox)
* Apply, document and communicate using multiple modes - policies and requirements of the CTC as pertaining to credentialing
* Collaborate with KSOE departments to ensure credential processes are current, documented and distributed to students.
*Respond to new and changing CTC requirements by implementing procedural changes, communicating changes to departments and students, updating documentation to reflect changes, etc.

Credential Analysts typically perform duties that include some or all of the following: data entry; scan documents; maintain files; review transcripts ;compile data and prepare reports; prepare correspondence; and may perform routine clerical functions as needed, such as sorting mail, greeting customers, answering phones and providing assistance, filing and using standard office equipment.

Degree Verification / Commencement Registration
* Communicates Degree Verification and Commencement RegistrationProcesses and key deadlines to enrolled students.
* Processes Degree Verification documentation and Commencement Registration application forms including conducting degree and coursework evaluations, communication with departments within and external to KSOE, resolves issues relating to degree evaluations;
* Maintains degree verification tracking sheets; Coordinates with department chairs/Program Directors for degree approvals;
* Communicates with Office of the Registrar for degree approvals and commencement registration* Represents the KSOE on SMC Commencement Committee.

Subject Matter Competency Evaluation and Documentation Management
* Communicates Subject Matter Competency Evaluation Processes and key deadlines to enrolled students.
* Conducts subject matter evaluations and communicates results of the evaluations to departments and students, tracks all results and shares tracking with departments.
* Apply policies and requirements of the CTC as pertaining to credentialing
* Collaborate regularly with KSOE departments to ensure credential processes are current and documented
* Communicate with students regarding documents, answer routine student questions promptly.

BA Degree Completion Prior Learning Assessment and Credit Management
* Prospective BA Degree completion students - analyze resume and transcripts for each student to determine transfer credit totals and review life/work experiences to determine fit for the BA degree completion program;
* In collaboration with Chairs and Program Directors, manages and analyzes professional coursework completed by prospective BA Degree completion students for potential unit credit;
* Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) - manages the PLA process for each BA Degree completion student, including oversight in posting of PLA credit to the student record and the student degree audit - this process begins early in the program and continues, for many students, throughout the program - often requires strategizing with students to determine the most efficient approach to meeting all degree requirements;

Experience and Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: REQUIRED: BA or comparable experience PREFERRED: B.A.

Experience: (years required and applicable field of experience): 3-5 years in an office setting, preferred in an education (K12 or higher education) setting.

Skills/Abilities: (e.g. computer skills, written & verbal skills, trades, laws, procedures, technical) Demonstrated ability with Excel, and experience analyzing documents, excellent written and verbal skills to be able to clearly communicate requirements to students, staff and faculty.

Licenses & Certifications (e.g. CPA, RN, etc.): REQUIRED: CTC credential or experience with CTC as a credential analyst, or similar school district, county office of education or university teacher education office personnel.
