Job Description

The 4-H Leadership and Evaluation position is an administrative professional faculty position which reports to the Associate Director/State 4-H Leader and is located in the State 4-H Office on the campus of Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA. The position will work collaboratively with other faculty in leading high quality 4-H youth development programs. The position will focus on youth leadership programs along a pathway of county/city to state to national/international experiences for Virginia youth. In collaboration with Extension faculty, volunteers, and partners, this position will lead and consult on statewide youth leadership and recognition programs and the state-level youth conferences/events that are part of program implementation.
In addition, this position is responsible for leading the design, development and implementation of an evaluation and research program for the 4-H Youth Development program and special initiative/projects. The Associate Specialist works to build the capacity of Youth Development faculty to integrate evaluation into the culture and practice of 4-H Youth Development programs.

Required Qualifications

Earned master’s degree in Education, Extension Education, Family and Child Development, Higher Education Administration, Leadership, Youth Program Management, or related discipline preferred. Experience in leading youth leadership development programs and experience with in-formal education program evaluation. Professional experience with electronic data management systems. Willingness to travel and work nights and weekends is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Earned doctorate in Extension Education, Youth Program Management, Community Development, Leadership, or closely related field. Degrees in other fields will be considered for candidates with professional Extension experience. Knowledge of and experience with on-line data management systems.
