Job Details
The Director of Campus Recreation provides visionary leadership, management, and leadership to a comprehensive department including fitness programs, adventure programs, competitive sports, marketing, and student employment programs.
The Director manages all operations of a portfolio consisting of (1) Student Fitness Center/McCormick Hall; (2) Bowling and Billiards Center; (3) Redbird Adventure Center; and (4) Gregory Street Fields. The Student Fitness Center/McCormick Hall is a joint-use facility housing the School of Kinesiology and Recreation and the Department of Campus Recreation. The Bowling and Billiards Center is a joint-use facility including Redbird Esports and Campus Recreation.
The Director leads strategic planning, goal setting, assessment initiatives and is responsible for all financial management activities including budgeting, expenditure analysis, and reporting.
Required Qualifications
1. Master's degree in recreation, sports management, kinesiology, or related area
2. Minimum of seven years of experience with recreation and/or facility management
3. Knowledge of recreation and fitness philosophies
4. Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the university
5. Strong leadership skills
6. Experience with managing complex budgets
7. Experience in supervising staff and team building
8. Commitment to diversity and inclusiveness
Desired Qualifications
1. Experience in managing a recreation center in a university setting
2. Increasing levels of responsibility in leadership of recreation services and/or recreation facility management
3. Proven ability to manage conflict and achieve consensus
4. Active in related professional associations
