Eastern Mennonite University (EMU), a leading faith-informed peace and justice university located in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, is pleased to announce an opening for its chief academic leader in 2023. The University invites applications and nominations for the position of Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs (Provost). EMU seeks an imaginative, collaborative leader who will work in concert with 90 full-time faculty, more than 100 adjunct faculty, and 75 academic staff to significantly advance the mission and academic outcomes.

Reporting to the President and serving as a member of the President's Cabinet, the Provost is responsible for a large and diverse portfolio of academic excellence, including leading three instructional sites (main campus in Harrisonburg and satellite educational sites in Lancaster, PA and Washington, DC); the Eastern Mennonite seminary (EMS); and, three academic schools: Science, Engineering, Art and Nursing (SEAN School); Performing Arts, Theology and Humanities (PATH School); and, Social Sciences and the Professions (SSP School). The Provost also oversees the Center for Justice & Peacebuilding (CJP), the Center for Interfaith Engagement (CIE), and several applied music programs, including the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival, Preparatory Music, and Shenandoah Valley Children's Choir, as well as 22 direct reports.

Founded in 1917, EMU is an educational institution of the Mennonite Church USA. The University offers rigorous academic study at the undergraduate, graduate, and seminary levels and confers degrees in the liberal arts, applied sciences, and professions. More than 2,000 students are enrolled in programs at the three locations and online.
