The Department of Leadership is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and innovative colleague for a full-time, 9-month, non- tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor in Educational Leadership in the College of Education at the University of Memphis. The position will include on-campus, online and hybrid course instruction, academic program support, partnership development, and student recruitment. The applicant’s teaching practice should demonstrate a commitment to and experience with (1) educational leadership, (2) school/district leader preparation; (3) diversity, equity, and inclusion to promote effective learning; (4) culturally relevant and sustaining practice; and (5) comprehensive and sustained professional growth opportunities to enhance professional practices involving diverse populations. The desired candidate will have experience in P-12 school leadership/administration and possess an understanding of the intersection of research and practice in school leadership. The candidate should have the desire, willingness, and commitment to teaching and service at a large research institution that integrates high leverage practices into their coursework and professional development. QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Earned doctorate degree obtained by August 1, 2023 in Educational Leadership/Administration or closely related field from an accredited university
  • A record of successful professional leadership/administrative experience in P-12 educational settings
  • Demonstrated commitment to cultural responsiveness, equity, and inclusiveness
  • Expertise in leading effective change at the school/district level in educational settings that serve students from diverse backgrounds

Desired

  • Evidence of school/district/system level leadership/administrative experience
  • Experience and evidence of excellence in teaching at the college level (conventional, online and/or hybrid)
  • Evidence of, or potential for, successful school leader supervision and related clinical experiences
  • Commitment to facilitating positive change in educational leadership programs
  • Knowledge of state and national instructional school leader standards
  • Ability to support a culture of collaboration, inclusion, equity, and diversity
  • Demonstrated use of technology integration in teaching and professional development
  • Participation in collaborative school and community-based initiatives and partnerships
  • Expertise in using classroom and schoolwide assessments and student achievement data to inform instruction

Responsibilities

  • Teach master’s and doctoral educational leadership courses on campus, online and hybrid
  • Develop, facilitate, and maintain partnerships and collaborative efforts with local school systems in the preparation of P-12 school/district leaders
  • Assist with coordination of the M.S. Program
  • Assist with the coordination of student recruitment, retention and completion efforts
  • Work collaboratively with LDPS faculty and staff to accomplish program/department goals and accreditation
  • Serve on department, college, and university committees and attend general academic meetings/events, and commencement
  • Mentor and advise graduate students
  • Attend department and program area meetings
  • Other duties as assigned by the department chairperson

The Department of Leadership is a multidisciplinary unit with programs in two divisions: Higher and Adult

Education and Pre K-12 Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (see https://www.memphis.edu/lead/).

The College of Education, with over 60 full-time faculty, is accredited by NCATE/CAEP and is a

leader in the enhancement of teacher and school leader preparation, student affairs and higher education

administration preparation, and adult learning program initiatives (see www.memphis.edu/coe). The College

SALARY& BEGINNING DATE

Salaries are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position (#001243) is a 9-month non-tenure-track appointment. The anticipated date of appointment is August 21, 2023. The University offers an excellent benefits package, including healthcare and retirement.
