Position Title Admissions Marketing Communication Coordinator The Opportunity

The Office of Admissions welcomes applications for the Admissions Marketing Communication Coordinator. This unique position is a full-time, 12-month, administrative faculty professional exempt position in the Admissions Office at Colorado School of Mines. The position reports to the Assistant Director of Admissions – Graduate Marketing, is a member of the Enrollment Management Division and is a vital team member for the Admissions Marketing and Communication team.

This position coordinates the development and execution of email, web, electronic and print communications crucial for processes unique to the Admissions Office and the prospective student experience. This position serves as the communication liaison to admissions undergraduate and graduate recruitment, visit and social media staff; and in coordination with the Associate Director and Executive Director of Admissions, works closely with the University Marketing and Communications team, as well as other key offices and teams across the Mines’ community to ensure alignment with institutional branding and communication best practices and goals.

Responsibilities

Communication and Marketing:
  • Write, edit, proofread and build communications (especially email) through Slate, the Office's CRM system, the public website, admissions’ social media accounts and other platforms as appropriate. This includes being an expert in Associated Press (AP) style writing and Colorado School of Mines branding. Work with the Admissions Marketing and Communications team to develop communication timelines and review analytics for future communication enhancements.
  • Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Admissions – Graduate Marketing, serve as a communication liaison to multiple admissions (recruitment, operations and visit) and enrollment (e.g. financial aid, scholarships) teams and college partners to help execute the flow of communication for the business processes unique to the Admissions Office and enrollment process.
  • Respond appropriately to requests for materials; assist in coordinating, prioritizing, preparing and shipping printed materials. Organize, track and inventory swag, publications and apparel; provide support in keeping accurate records and preparing reports.
  • Research industry developments to maintain the professional competence, knowledge and skills vital for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities including changes in regulations, technology and standard methodologies.
  • Prepare regular written marketing and communication reports and may make oral presentations on behalf of Admissions to internal, as well as external audiences.
  • Supervise student employees that support the Admissions Marketing and Communications team.
Graphic Design:
  • Use Adobe Photoshop and InDesign to update presentations, resize images for email, create graphics for social media, and update recruitment and other communication materials as needed.
  • Create Admissions specific designs for special programming to enhance swag, publications and apparel. Ensure that these designs align with Mines’ brand standards.
Admissions Programs:
  • Participate in application file evaluation, participate in on-campus visitation programs, serve on various internal and external committees, and other special projects as assigned.
  • During some periods in the Admissions cycle, frequent weekend and evening work will be required. Also, this position may travel up to two weeks per year
Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in communications, advertising, marketing, writing or a related field. Education can be substituted with specialized experience.
  • 2+ years of experience coordinating communication projects (especially email projects) and/or marketing campaigns for a professional organization.
  • 2+ years of professional communication or marketing experience.
  • 2+ years of experience facilitating collective work among communication professionals in a higher education setting.
  • 1+ year of professional writing experience with a detailed knowledge of grammar. Experience in process management, and in a role with deadlines.
  • Experience with HTML and/or an HTML content management system. Experience using Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Commitment to diversity, inclusion and accessibility.

  • Proven ability to self-monitor quality control and accuracy.
  • Prioritizes and executes multiple communication projects at once.
  • Builds and sends email communication and drip email campaigns.
  • Strong process management, resourcefulness, use of good judgment and the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of professional communication or marketing experience.
  • 2+ years of experience facilitating collective work among communication professionals in a higher education setting.
  • Experience with customer relations management systems, especially Slate.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite applications, specifically InDesign, Photoshop, and/or Acrobat.
  • Knowledge of admissions and/orColorado School of Mines. Bilingual in English/Spanish.

Pay Range

$52,762 - $55,000

Mines takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s education, training and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, work location, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.
