Position Title Interim Music Program Director - Humanities, Arts, & Social Sciences Department (Mines only) The Opportunity The Department of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (HASS) is hiring for an internal (Mines only) Interim Music Program Director. Responsibilities
Open to current faculty only
In addition to regular teaching duties, the music program director is responsible for:
Budget Management
- Resource current budget in conjunction with HASS department head
- Building/rooms/HVAC general upkeep
- Instrument general maintenance and yearly upkeep
- Band flannels (yearly cleaning/repair/replacement)
- Identify needs (e.g., new instruments), and purchase (in consultation with the DH)
- Alumni Association/Alumni
- Foundation and donors
- Parents and/or students
- Faculty at large for possible cross-curricular opportunities
- Concerts schedule/subscription schedule. (Rooming/time/flyers)
- Semester Class schedule for Music and the Performing Arts faculty
- Practice Room scheduling
- Public Relation Events
- Publication of all Music and the Performing Arts events
- Work Study Students
- Volunteers (connects them to appropriate opportunities)
- Mentor faculty
- Oversee conductors of the ensembles
- Set up/call meetings
- Coordinates a small committee to determine, place, and disperse scholarship monies
- Admissions events, (i.e., Discover Mines, etc.)
- Responds to emails from students about the program (including prospective students over the summer months)
- Publicizes opportunities for students to use Mines’ instruments
- As needed, works with HS Band directors from schools with future Mines students
- Existing faculty in HASS
- Completed PhD and experience teaching and directing a music program

Pay Range
Mines is offering administrative compensation of increment pay.
