Job Summary

The Assistant Director serves as the College’s Title IX Coordinator. The Assistant Director of Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity participates in the development, implementation, and monitoring of affirmative action/equal opportunity employment programs, including coordinating Title IX investigations and compliance, all in compliance with Federal and State government regulations, Council on Postsecondary Education’s policy, and the College’s goals to enhance diversity. The Assistant Director oversees the compilation of statistical data for inclusion in the state and federal plans, compliance reviews and progress reports, conduct and oversee investigations, monitor complaints of discrimination and harassment and provide training and counseling in matters relating to equity, diversity and affirmative action.

Duties and Responsibilities

Commitment to CCRI’s Mission :
· Demonstrates a commitment to the philosophy and mission of a comprehensive community college.
· Works collaboratively with others and provide quality customer service in a diverse and inclusive environment.

Policies and Compliance :
· Acts as the College’s Title IX Coordinator; conduct and oversee investigations, including Title IX, equal employment opportunity, discrimination and policy violations, assigning investigators and monitoring investigation progress and outcomes.
· Assists the Director in evaluating and implementing affirmative action, equal employment opportunity and diversity policies and goals, in compliance with government legislation and college goals.
· Assists in the review of administrative and hiring procedures used to fill each position for compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity and affirmative action regulations.
· Formulates the College’s Affirmative Action plan.
· Works within a highly confidential and sensitive environment.

Data Collection and Reporting :
· Oversees the compilation of statistical data for inclusion in state and federal affirmative action plans, compliance reviews and progress reports.
· Conducts investigations and produce written reports on findings.
· Assists in record-keeping procedures, compliance reviews, audits and reporting procedures pertaining to all facets of the College’s Affirmative Action Plan. Gather and interpret data requested by persons or groups either on or off campus.
· Generates internal reports for CCRI community as needed
· Assists in writing and developing research and funding opportunities.

Education :
· Conducts training and provides counsel, support, and referral for individuals and groups with concerns regarding Title IX, and affirmative action at the College.
· Acts as a resource to the Director, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Organizational Development regarding equity and diversity training.
· Provides current information to the various campus and state communities concerning matters related to education, equity and affirmative action. Such activities may include classroom instruction, involvement in course and curriculum development, workshops, and training sessions on related topics.

Departmental Support :
· Provides coverage for the Director and represent the office at various meetings and events, as needed.
· Updates and maintain the relevant portions of the Institutional Equity and Human Resources website.
· Works within a highly confidential and sensitive environment.
· Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

· Master’s degree and/or other advanced degree, e.g., J.D. At least two years of experience working with equal opportunity or affirmative action programs, including AA/ EEO and nondiscrimination laws and regulations.
· Demonstrated ability to prepare and present findings and recommendations from detailed studies and reports.
· Demonstrated experience conducting discrimination and harassment investigations, including producing written notes and findings
· Demonstrated supervisory experience. Demonstrated experience in developing and facilitating trainings.

Competencies and Desired Qualifications

· Extensive knowledge of nondiscrimination policies and their applications as well as investigations and report generation.
· Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
.Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with culturally-diverse populations.
· Will have a Master’s degree in labor relations, public administration, education or related field, and/or other advanced degree (e.g., J.D.).
· Will be a Certified Affirmative Action Professional.
· Will have demonstrated experience conducting investigations and producing written reports for federal and/or state agencies, such as the Rhode Island Commission for Human Rights, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Civil Rights.
