Serve as a strategic and analytical leader who oversees key programs and strategic initiatives for the Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE) and on behalf of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (VPUE). Serve as a key deputy to the VPUE and work in close consultation with the leadership of OUE. Provide oversight for areas that include administrative operations; communication, marketing and events, academic analytics, development, data and assessment, and OUE strategic planning. Support staff development and inclusion, coordinate various advisory boards for the VPUE, and collaborate in the launch of new undergraduate programs, services, and initiatives within OUE. Perform special assignments and lead projects as requested by the VPUE. Responsible for establishing group/departmental/division goals, determining the resources needed to meet those goals, assessing group/departmental/division performance feedback, and making pay decisions. This position will interact on a regular basis with: Staff and executive leadership within OUE and Office of the Provost. This position typically will advise and counsel: OUE leadership, Office of the Provost leadership, staff, and other executive leadership offices. This position will supervise: Assigned staff.


Job Duty 1 -
Collaborate with OUE directors and other OUE staff/faculty on the development of new undergraduate services and student programs, projects, and initiatives.

Job Duty 2 -
Supervise professional staff and oversee and coordinate their efforts regarding all VPUE administrative and day-to-day operations (including, finance/budget), HR, marketing and events, data and assessment, and strategic planning.

Job Duty 3 -
Perform higher-level executive tasks, including chairing meetings/work groups/committees, documenting/taking notes for meetings that include sensitive/confidential information, preparing analyses and white papers, and conducting research to benchmark performance and develop recommendations.

Job Duty 4 -
Take the lead on staff engagement and professional development activities throughout OUE, including non-tenure track promotion processes. Support OUE¿s professional development committee and manage professional development funding. Plan town hall events, leadership retreats, and other OUE events and activities.

Job Duty 5 -
Serve as a key point of contact for OUE directors/leadership that require escalation to the VPUE in coordination with the Assistant Director for Administrative Operations. Identify key issues, conduct research, manage follow-up, and make appropriate referrals to other offices as needed.

Job Duty 6 -
Coordinate and oversee communications on behalf of the VPUE in coordination with the Marketing and Communication Manager and Institute Communications, including high-quality presentations and infographics, memos/letters, websites, social media messaging, emails for target audiences, etc., in a manner consistent with OUE and the Institute communication style.

Job Duty 7 -
Supervise and coordinate strategic planning, implementation, assessment, and continuous improvement effort across the division in coordination with the Director of Undergraduate Analytics and Planning. Ensure alignment of OUE assessment plans and reports with Institute requirements. Support accreditation efforts such as Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

Job Duty 8 -
Supervise and coordinate undergraduate retention and completion strategies across the Institute In coordination with the Director of Retention and Completion Initiatives and leadership in Enrollment Management.  This includes Georgia Tech's Enrollment Strategic Plan for Undergraduate Education as well as a range of University System of Georgia initiatives.

Job Duty 9 -
Research, design, write, and edit project reports to internal and external entities. Prepare annual reports and other submissions on behalf of VPUE; compile or prepare additional reports on behalf of OUE.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience
Ten or more years of job-related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Project Management Certification.

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's degree or Doctorate.

Preferred Experience
5 years of previous leadership experience at the director or above level within an academic or student affairs programmatic area/unit in a research university, including supervision of professional staff.

Preferred Skills

  • Must have a deep and broad understanding of undergraduate education and academic programs, preferably within a research university.
  • Previous leadership experience at the assistant director or above level within an academic or student affairs programmatic area/unit in a research university.
  • Experience with assessment of programs and services in higher education.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office platforms (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) to produce high-quality, professional documents, reports, analyses, infographics, and presentations.
  • Proactive decision-making and problem-solving skills to respond to high-pressure situations. Excellent customer service skills with proven knowledge of how to work effectively and professionally with all levels of internal and external stakeholders on complex issues and problems.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and consistently meet deadlines. Ability to establish effective working relationships to accomplish objectives, an expert in working both independently and in a team environment.
