CIT houses multiple degrees in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Data Science at both the BS and MS levels and also participates in the PhD program in Engineering and Applied Science. Positions at any rank will be considered. The University of New Haven has been recognized by the National Security Agency as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Operations (CAE-CO), one of only 22 universities in the United States to receive this prestigious designation.

We are looking for an energetic faculty member who can build our national and international reputation in cybersecurity and digital forensics and lead the Connecticut Institute of Technology. The favorable start date is January 2023; a fall 2023 start may be negotiable.

Expectations

  • Continue implementation of the current NSF Scholarship for Service grant in cybersecurity. Develop integrated, data-driven research across a broad array of cybersecurity topics utilizing CIT faculty and resources. This should complement existing activities in the department and college in cybersecurity, computing, networking or other relevant areas, while engaging graduate and undergraduate students. Opportunities for research collaboration exist within the college and across the university. Existing faculty already have funded projects from NSA, NSF, DHS, ONR and existing collaborations with the MITRE Corp. Scholarly publications and grant writing to establish funded research is expected. Teach hands-on cybersecurity courses such as cyber forensics, reverse engineering, ethical hacking, assembly, digital forensics (memory forensics, mobile forensics) and network security is highly desirable. Experience with developing and teaching online courses is also desirable. Service at the program, profession, departmental, college and university levels on various working groups and committees is also expected. Other duties may include working with organizations to secure industry-sponsored design projects and outreach/recruiting.

Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or closely related fields with emphasis on cybersecurity from an accredited institution. Demonstrated track record of research and grant activities relevant to technology transfer in cybersecurity, computer science and related areas. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and commitment to collegiality and teamwork. Authorization to work in the U.S.
