Admissions and Recruitment International Specialist - Enrollment Services

Classification Title: Student Services Professional II

Classification Salary Range: $4,304 - $6,120 per month.

Hiring salary range budgeted at $4,304 - $4,605 per month commensurate with education and experience

About the Position:

Under general supervision of the Associate Director, the incumbent will perform the following: processes international applications and/or coursework; evaluation of records for admission eligibility and credit toward degrees; interpret and apply provisions of Title V of California administrative code and University policies relating to admission; analyzes the academic records of first-time freshman applicants; evaluate transfer credit for undergraduate degrees and specialized programs; determine eligibility for admission; advise applicants, students and faculty on state and university requirements for degrees at the undergraduate and graduate level; monitor the flow of applicant files related to the admission decision; and, perform other related duties as may be assigned. Incumbents may be required to work extended hours and/or Saturdays during peak times.

Occasional Evening and Weekend work required.

Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Interpret documents from other educational institutions, domestic & foreign, to determine equivalency of degrees and courses toward CSU requirements
  • Determine the accreditation status of every institution with regard to acceptance of credit
  • Determine course content, level (freshman, lower division, upper division, graduate) unit value, and grading from transcript and appropriate catalogs from other institutions
  • Determine admission eligibility by the evaluation of academic records (high school, college, university) and transfer credit; ensure CSU residency requirements are met
  • Evaluate courses in satisfaction of specific non-traditional credit and university general education and statutory requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of the practices, procedures, and activities of the program to which assigned
  • General knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational and program management.
  • General knowledge of research and interview techniques; and of the principles of individual and group behavior.
  • Use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements
  • Obtain factual and interpretative information through interviews; reason logically
  • Collect, compile, analyze and evaluate data and make verbal or written presentations based on these data
  • Advise students individually and in groups on routine matters where required
  • Recognize multicultural, multi sexed and multi-aged value systems and work accordingly
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, CSU administrators, student organizations, private and public agencies and others in committee work, and student advising and community contacts
  • Rapidly acquire a general knowledge of the overall operation, functions and programs of the campus to which assigned.
  • Prioritizing and organizing work to meet deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education:
    Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Experience:
    Possession of this knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of two (2) years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. A master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree.
  • Experience in Admissions and Records at a public university and/or experience evaluating International coursework
