Position Reporting & Basic Function:
This position provides financial direction and fiscal management for the Student Affairs Division to assist in meeting the strategic goals of the division and the university. This position works with the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, as well as other division leaders to maintain accounting standards and controls to facilitate sound fiscal management, planning, and decision making. This position reports to the Director of Fiscal Managers with responsibility for task assignments, oversight, and performance reviews shared between the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Director of Fiscal Managers.

Job Description:
  • Monitor all fiscal activity (revenues, expenses, auxiliaries, gifts, and grants) including directing the preparation, maintenance, and reconciliation of the division budgets
  • Monitor compliance with all university, regulatory, fiscal, and report requirements. Work with department or unit leaders to resolve operating problems and develop, recommend, and implement administrative policies and procedures
  • Provide the Student Affairs division's department leaders with expertise support and selected functional task oversight for the Student Affairs Division's various department fiscal or operations administrations positions
  • Monitor auxiliary operations to ensure a balanced budget. Provide leadership with the appropriate data needed to enable leaders to make spending trend adjustment decisions to stay within budget
  • Provide financial data to help drive decisions for student fees. (Examples of these rates include, but are not limited to the following: student housing rates, meal plan rates, student activity fees, health services fees, recreation fees, testing service fees, student services fees)
  • Prepare for the Vice Chancellor and/or Associate Vice Chancellor, financial data or summary information reports as needed for internal planning, constituent reports, or public dissemination
  • Inform the Vice Chancellor and/or Associate Vice Chancellor on various fiscal matters as requested
  • Review salary information for new hires, check for available funding, ensure salary percentages and sources to be accurate
  • Monitor funding sources for all salaries and ensure that they are transferred appropriately
  • Create and maintain reports in Workday Planning, COGNOS, and PeopleSoft. Examples are but not limited to budget vs actuals, multi-year actual expense review, payroll funding, and salary compression
  • Participate in the development of strategy, long range plans and financial planning. Monitor performance against plans
  • Prepare journal entries for fund transfers for Student Affairs departments
  • Collaborate and work with other units across campus
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration with course work in management and accounting
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in a related area
  • University experience
  • PeopleSoft experience
