We are seeking a Clinical Nurse to work in the Division of Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the Asthma and Allergy Center on the Bayview Campus. This position is accountable for the delivery of comprehensive care, in collaboration with faculty, nurse practitioners, and other members of the health care team, to the client population through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. This role helps foster an environment that optimizes patient well-being and outcomes. Additionally, this position is responsible for assisting with the research functions of the faculty member’s research portfolio.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Clinical

  • Monitor and follow up on diagnostic test results, prescriptions, medical equipment, insurance requirements, and documentation needs for patients.
  • Administer vaccines, allergy shots, and allergy testing to patients when needed.
  • Telephone triage for patient problems and response to therapy and communicate to the program physicians.
  • Educate patients on the allergy and clinical immunology service about the disease process and current and investigational therapies.
  • Screen medical records and facilitate scheduling of new referrals to the Allergy and Clinical Immunology Clinic.
  • Facilitate and obtain insurance authorization for medical therapy, diagnostic testing and hospital admission.
  • Coordinate and develop relationships with industry representatives.
  • Other clinical duties as assigned by the Allergy Clinic Medical Director and clinic manager.


Research

  • Responsible for supervising the research activities for the Clinical Immunology faculty members.
  • Assist with coordination of industry and internal Clinical Immunology clinical trials, including identifying subjects, IRB submission, regulatory documentation and protocol required study visits and testing.
  • Sample processing through the use lab equipment at the direction of the faculty member.
  • Coordinate and assist with sample and data collection and data entry for databases and clinical trials being done in the Clinical Immunology Program.


Administrative

  • Acts as a liaison between referring physicians and the Clinical Immunology Program.
  • Acts as a liaison between hospital staff, including nurses, physicians and other departments, allergy and clinical immunology fellows and the Clinical Immunology Program.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Individual must be a Registered Nurse, licensed in the State of Maryland or state where practicing.
  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing or related discipline preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR certification required. Must maintain current licensure and certification during duration of employment
  • Position requires excellent interpersonal skills, good oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with individuals of varying ages, educational, and socioeconomic levels.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Candidates must have at least 2 years of clinical experience in allergy and clinical immunology, prior research experience is desired but not essential.

Starting Salary Range: $62,780 - $86,390 (Commensurate with experience)
