    Department Summary
    The department of University Communications (UC) is charged with telling the University of Oregon's (UO) stories to a broad range of audiences and positioning the university to succeed and thrive. The department utilizes and manages a comprehensive suite of communications tools, including public relations, branding, advertising, licensing, digital media, and more for the benefit of the university.
    Position Summary
    The Digital Communications Coordinator coordinates digital communication campaigns and manages projects for top institutional priorities and makes decisions in consultation with the Assistant Director of Digital Communications (assistant director).

    Reporting to the assistant director, this position works with senior-level stakeholders from around campus as well as designers, writers, videographers, web designers, and developers within communications. This position exercises a general degree of authority, independence and initiative in prioritizing, decision-making, and problem-solving using discretionary judgment.

    Essential responsibilities include project management, basic web design and coordination, website content management and maintenance, information architecture development, and providing training and guidance for websites managed by University Communications as well as guidance in analytics reporting.
    Minimum Requirements
  • Three years of experience in gathering information, writing/producing materials, presenting information to the public and public relations. One year of this experience must have included responsibility for press releases and interaction with the news media.
  • A Bachelor's degree in journalism, communication, or closely related field may substitute for up to two years of the general experience.
    Professional Competencies
  • Experience with web and graphic design, advertising, marketing, and/or communications.
  • Technical knowledge of graphic design and/or web design/content management and advanced understanding of Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong HTML/CSS skills and Drupal or similar web content management system.
  • Knowledge of photography, video art direction, project management, layout, and composition.
  • Proven ability at building client relationships to successfully implement projects.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, including colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Ability to clearly communicate project goals, design needs, and measurements of project success.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Commitment to and experience with promoting and enhancing diversity and equity.
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree.
  • Strong HTML/CSS skills.
  • Photography/video experience.
  • Video production and editing skills.
  • Project management background.
  • Familiarity with print production, pre-press, and printing processes.
