$69,200-$89,900 + per year the posted salary range represents the minimum to the midpoint within RVU's compensation plan. RVU's full compensation structure provides a minimum to a maximum range. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill, knowledge, experience, education, and credentials.


RVU offers a full benefits package that includes Health, Dental and Vision insurance, along with 2 weeks accrued paid vacation days per year, 12 accrued sick days per year, personal days, 13 ½ paid holidays and 401(K) match up to 7% based on employee's contribution. A hybrid work model with remote flexibility is also available for eligible positions.

Primary Purpose

Maintains and updates the University's learning management system (LMS) with minimal disruption to students and faculty. Develops faculty proficiency with the LMS by designing and developing resources, digital course materials, and learning objects; managing instructional technology projects; and developing and delivering training to faculty, staff, and students in the use of technology solutions. Partners with faculty and instructors in developing high quality and dynamic courses within the online and blended modalities, specializing in web accessibility and emerging technologies to ultimately serve students with an incredible and successful online learning experience.

Essential Job Functions

  • Oversees data integrity, accuracy, and integration stability for the LMS and related systems; researches and resolves LMS functionality issues, ensures software upgrades are tested and scheduled to minimally impact student learning yet ensures system is up to date.
  • Establishes minimum quality standards for technology-enhanced teaching at RVU and conduct course shell audits regularly.
  • Employs a collaborative, equity-minded instructional approach rooted in best practices to guide and collaborate on the design of delivering the Subject Matter Expert's (SME's) content, producing universally designed, digitally accessible courses, course components, learning objects, and training materials.
  • Collaborates and consults with faculty on the effective use of instructional technology tools and solutions using sound instructional design principles.
  • Assists instructors with integration of basic system functionality, including attendance, quizzes, integration with other systems and software, grade books, textbook publisher plugins, H5P learning objects, and related tools.
  • Develops and facilitates professional development for faculty, programs, departments, or colleges interested in online teaching, blended teaching, and/or effective integration of instructional technologies into their courses.
  • Designs and implements quality assurance criteria and processes for LMS-dependent and LMS-enhanced courses.

Marginal Job Functions

  • Assist administration, faculty, and staff in special projects and data acquisition relation to the LMS as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated expertise and enthusiasm with Web Accessibility and UDL, embedding equity, diversity, and inclusion practices.
  • Track record of leadership on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for faculty, staff and students.
  • Advanced knowledge of video editing, streaming audio and video (including closed captioning), compression methods, file types, and formats.
  • Demonstrated understanding of learning theory and instructional systems design.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, collaborative work style, and desire to collaborate in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and oral presentation communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree In instructional technology, digital media, information systems, education, or related field.
  • 1-3 years related to instructional technology and training, experience with Learning Management Systems, and supporting software solutions.
  • Experience with at least one learning management system (Blackboard, WebCT, Angel, D2L, Jicx e-Learning, etc.).
  • Experience teaching and/or training, preferably in a higher education environment.
  • Experience with educational software such as Captivate, Articulate, Yuja, Storyline, Camtasia, and other similar products.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree In instructional design, educational media, instructional technology, or related field.
  • Proven experience with project management and instructional design/development within a higher education setting.
  • Experience with Quality Matters or similar course quality evaluation tools.
  • Higher education teaching experience.
  • Working knowledge of graphic design elements relevant to online instruction.
