Job Description

Syracuse University School of Architecture — a top-ranked research institution that is committed to building a diverse faculty — seeks candidates for a tenure-track position in Architectural Design at the Assistant Professor rank starting in the 2023-2024 academic year.

Qualifications

Professional or terminal degree in architecture or related field.

Job Specific Qualifications

Successful candidates should possess professional experience in architectural design and demonstrate a potential for recognized research that may include built work, theoretical explorations, advocacy, creative work and/or scholarship in the form of publications, exhibitions, and grants. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to integrate their research interests, creative work, or professional practice into their teaching. We encourage applications from members of historically underrepresented groups, and candidates with experience teaching and working with diverse communities and students.

Responsibilities

Teaching responsibilities include design studios and a seminar or lecture course in a well-defined field of expertise such as building technology, history, media, representation, structures, or theory. Responsibilities also include service to the school, the university, and greater community.

Applicants should submit a letter of interest which clearly states their area of teaching expertise, in addition to: a statement of teaching pedagogy, research and professional goals, a curriculum vitae, a statement of diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility, a list of three references, and a portfolio of scholarship/creative work. Candidates with teaching experience should also submit sample syllabi and student work samples as part of their portfolio. Review of applications will begin on November 18, 2022; priority will be given to applicants who submit by that date.
