This is a full-time benefits eligible position. Working hours:
Monday – Friday; 8 am to 5 pm during Fall and Spring semesters when classes are in session.
Monday – Thursday; 8 am to 5 pm during Summer semester

Utilizes the nursing process in an outpatient setting to assist clients in achieving optimum wellness.

Documents patient information, including history, assessment, impression, treatments, medication given and ordered, response to treatment and other information as applicable such as referrals, allied health professionals and treatment at other facilities or physician offices.

Assesses patient education needs, develops and conducts teaching plans in response to identified needs, and evaluates effectiveness of interventions, including counseling and teaching of patients on specific disease states and proper prevention and health promotion measures for achieving and maintaining the patient’s optimum level of wellness.

Maintains the clinical environment in accordance with standards of safe practice and infection control. Restocks supplies, medication, linen, crutches, liquid nitrogen, and disposes of all waste, including biohazard wastes, before, during and after patient treatment, according to universal precaution standards. 1. One year nursing experience required.

Current Missouri License Practical Nurse License or eligible for license.

IV Certification preferred.

Certification in CPR / BLS with AED preferred. Special Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge: Attention to detail, Communication skills, including oral, written, and/or nonverbal, Knowledge of a University environment preferred, Human Relations/Interpersonal skills, Physical abilities: mobility/strength/dexterity/balance/coordination/endurance, Maintain confidentiality Other Special Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge
Understanding of stages of human development and its impact on adaptation to illness, decision-making and other aspects of behavior.

Knowledge of concepts of wellness and health promotion in an outpatient setting.

Skills and abilities include but not limited to knowledge and use of nebulizer, oxygen, IV therapy, liquid nitrogen, hydrocollator, and hyfrecator.

Ability to deal with diversity of students and patients in fast-paced clinic setting.

Ability to deal with upset and distraught patients. Specify sensory abilities: Physical & Environmental Factors: Excessive standing and/or walking, Exposure to fumes and/or chemicals Other Physical & Environmental Factors
Exposure to infections and communicable disease.
