Job Summary: The Assistant Director Financial Aid is responsible for managing loan programs by certifying, originating, and delivering of over $50 million annually in educational loans. Duties & Essential Job Functions:
- Manages all federal, state and institutional loan programs by making decisions related to applicable business processes, funding issues, system requirements and regulatory constraints.
- Accomplishes staff job results by supervising, counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring and appraising jobs results.
- Coordinates loan application and delivery system by overseeing data exchange processes with guarantor, leaders, and students.
- Coordinates borrower notification of rights and responsibilities by creating and monitoring communications regarding applications status and fund disbursement.
- Approves system status by testing upgrades and patches, determining best practices and approving enhancements.
- Ensures customers are receiving the best loan options available by liaisons with lending and servicing partners, and making decisions regarding preferred lenders.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent in experience.
- 2 years of office experience or a related environment providing customer service and program management and staff supervision.
- Knowledge of basic accounting processes.
- Knowledge of customer service techniques.
- Knowledge of communications and interpersonal techniques.
- Knowledge of federal and state financial aid policies and procedures related to educational loan programs.
- Skill in some or all components of Microsoft Office.
- Skill in Microsoft Windows navigation.
- Ability to clearly communicate information.
- Ability to draft grammatically correct correspondence.
- Ability to interact with students.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
- Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
- Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
- Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
- Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.
- Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
- This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
- There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
- The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
