Student Engagement Coordinator



Position Summary:

With general guidance, advocate the success of National University (NU) students and alumni through leadership development, community engagement and co-curricular participation that leads to a holistic student experience. Provide direct support and oversight student organizations, student mentoring program, student-to-alumni journey, and high impact programs (Scholars). Promote the Center for Student Engagement and Activities and alumni relations through direct student and alumni interaction. Design, develop and manage engagement opportunities and co-curricular development. Manage the mentoring network and provide analysis and recommendations. Facilitate the development of assessing student learning outcomes and aligning them with established standards and best practices. Position facilitates coordination with multiple departments and leaders to execute initiatives.

Essential Functions:
  • Delivers a comprehensive range of student co-curricular activities comprising of educational, recreational, social and cultural programs, designed for transfer students, first generation students and underrepresented learners.
  • Creates content and administers online learning environments for clubs, co-curricular activities and the Scholars Program, including creating syllabi, assessments, rubrics, managing calendars and creating video tutorials and learning aids.
  • Champions student content through the CSEA Student Blog and communications.
  • Collaborates with the Director in administering and promoting engagement opportunities throughout the University to advance the non-profit model of student support including co-curricular programs and scholarships within the community.
  • Partners with club advisors for student organizations in areas such as marketing, fundraising, web development, and interdepartmental collaboration.
  • Teams-up with other faculty and staff units to create and promote interdepartmental and interdisciplinary opportunities for co-curricular engagement and skill building.
  • Researches and implements best and high-impact practices to foster student success outcomes by using the query methodology and analyzing data as well as documenting the success of the program.
  • Leads student organizers in ensuring compliance and excellence in areas such as social media, marketing, budgeting and fundraising.
  • Advises students through the application and enrollment processes of co-curricular and honors programming, including direct student services and scalable resources such as FAQs and tutorials.
  • Provides direct mentoring to student leaders regarding leadership development, LMS platform administration, social media, marketing materials, finance, ePortfolios and web development.
  • Creates and facilitates ongoing events such as club meetings, student workshops and fundraisers and leadership development events.
  • Collaborates with internal and external vendors on travel, hotel reservations, conference registration, party rentals, space reservation, regalia, apparel and specialty printing.
  • Supports NU Mentoring Network administration, including acting as department liaison between all stakeholders and software and analytic support.
  • Supports Alumni events and activities, including meetings, networking events, and social gatherings, both in-person and online.
  • Understands and will support multiple software databases for record keeping, analytics, and student and alumni support.
  • Committed to a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion and will be able to support these initiatives to increase co-curricular offerings and support student success.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Hire, train and supervise Federal Work Study employees.

Requirements:

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum one (1) year working with students and faculty within a co-curricular role and time-sensitive processes; or, equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply policies and procedures, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, to include: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software applications.
  • Ability to multi-task, problem-solve, flexible, meet deadlines, adapt to ever changing environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities in a very fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
