Position Summary Information

Position Summary

The Department of History at Slippery Rock University invites tenure-track applicants who specialize in Modern European History (including Britain and/or Ireland) with preference given to candidates who specialize in western or central Europe. The load is 4-4 and the faculty member will be expected to teach the world history survey and general education courses, as well as contribute to our upper-division undergraduate course offerings. They will also teach in our successful online MA History program. Record of engaging students strongly, both within and beyond the classroom, required as part of the application package. This position is to replace our departing modern Europeanist; excellent pay and benefits.

Minimum Qualifications

ABD in History with a focus in Modern European History. Doctoral degree must be completed by August 21, 2023. Successful performance in an on-campus interview, including teaching demonstration. Demonstrated commitment to the education of diverse populations.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in History, with focus in modern European history. Previous college-level teaching experience and an active research agenda preferred.
