The European Institute is a world-leading and multidisciplinary centre of excellence for research and teaching on contemporary Europe in a global context. The department offers degrees at a post-graduate level; its faculty are active researchers, and teaching is research-led.

The department is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor in Political Economy. The successful candidate will be a scholar of political economy and will contribute to the MSc Political Economy of Europe programme and its associated Double Degree programmes. As part of a wider intellectual agenda in political economy, scholars with a research specialism in monetary policy and financial systems are especially encouraged to apply. We are open as to the specific intellectual and methodological approach.

The post holder will conduct and publish world-leading research and engage in high quality teaching. Candidates should have the ability to undertake theoretically innovative and methodologically rigorous empirical research; show clear evidence of a trajectory of internationally excellent research, including the potential to publish in world-leading journals and/or academic presses; a well-defined and viable strategy for future research that has the potential to result in world-leading publications; and the ability and willingness to teach in related areas.

Candidates will need to have a completed PhD or have submitted their final doctoral thesis by 1 September 2023 in political economy or a related discipline.
