Job Description
The UMKC Student Health and Wellness Center is looking for a Nurse Practitioner to join our team and continue our practice of providing quality health and mental health services to our diverse student population. This position will support students in the evaluation, diagnoses and treatment of acute and chronic conditions.
- Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patient, including mental health, and other acute & chronic conditions, within the scope of Advanced Practice Nursing.
- Participate in quality assurance programs for health services.
- Present health and wellness programs as a part of outreach to the campus community, which includes student orientations.
- Participate in University meetings, projects, and committees as assigned.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary staff. Specifically, willingness and ability to function as an integral team member within the department (Counseling, Health, Testing, & Disability Services) and the Student Affairs Division.
- Ability to exercise independent judgement in medical practice and consult when needed.
An interest in working with a diverse college population.
Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
Strong commitment to professional ethics.
Strong Critical Thinking Skills
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related/ relevant area and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Licensure as required for position.
Preferred Qualifications
A Master's degree in related/ relevant area (Science or Nursing) and at least 5 years of experience
RN and Advanced Practice Nursing Licensure in the state of Missouri.
BLS Certification.
Familiarity with using an Electronic Medical Record System
Two or more years’ experience as an Advanced Practice Nurse
Experience working with a late teen and adult population
Full Time/Part Time
Part time, 1-2 days per week
Clinic schedule is Monday through Friday and may require evening hours
Salary
Up tp $53.00/hr commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity
Shift
1-2 days per week. Clinic schedule is Monday through Friday and may require evening hours.
