Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Administration, responsible for a variety of equipment purchases and maintenance for musics labs, and media production. This position is responsible for the day-to-day administration and supervision of technical operation of the Harvard University Ethnomusicology Laboratory and Sound Lab. Purchases and maintainance of equipment and technical supervision of the studios; planning and technical realization of activities; support for faculty and student’s individual projects and faculty teaching in the studios. Provides user support including orientation to facilities, workshops to educate users, oversees general operating guidelines, and technical assistance for undergraduate and graduate courses using the studios. Maintains the equipment in all studio spaces, manages the inventory, documentation, and usage. Installs/upgrades necessary software and is responsible for backup procedures.

Basic Qualifications
B.A. required. Minimum 5 years experience in audio and film production and editing systems required; 3 years in Macintosh system administration with advanced knowledge of film and audio technology. Strong audio engineering skills and experience in sound reinforcement systems are essential.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
Management experience preferred. In depth knowledge of audio workstations including hardware/software configurations/updates on Mac platform (including MIDI, direct to disk recording/editing, software configurations, etc.), electronic repair work, network configuration/maintenance (TCP/IP, FTP, DHCP, etc.). Advanced knowledge of ProTools. Substantial knowledge of Apple Logic, Avid system, Final Cut Pro, and Sibelius. Knowledge of Harvard University applications a plus.

· Sound Lab: Equipment purchases and maintenance; production station maintenance and updates; leads and coordinates weekly workshops and events on media production hardware and software; creates and distributes workshop promotional materials; website maintenance and updates.
· Ethnomusicology Lab: Equipment purchases; production station maintenance and updates; software and hardware trainings and tutorials.
· Music Department Equipment Lab: manages inventory database; equipment maintenance and repair; all equipment checkouts; works with faculty and TFs on course equipment needs.

· Media production training and tutorials
· Faculty office A/V support
· Basic media production support for course materials and other projects
Classroom AV Support
· Assists Front Office staff with classroom A/V support
· Advises on classroom technology needs

Other responsibilities
· Basic media and post-production work for the department as needed
· Advises on Music Department equipment and technology needs
· Purchases and maintains Music Department’s technology resources
· Liaison for HUIT’s Refresh Program, as well as MTS and MPC
· technical support for basic technology issues like checking system settings, connectivity issues, and quick diagnostics on HUIT owned computers
· Zoom/video conferencing support
