Capital Project Manager

Department Statement
Colgate University is seeking a Project Manager for the Capital Project Management group to manage renovations and new construction projects at the University. They will be responsible for ongoing project programming, manage the design development process and construction management/inspection process connected with new construction and remodeling of existing facilities for the University. Prepares necessary project budgets and approval documentation for the Finance Department relative to Capital Projects assigned. Examines construction plans and specifications, makes recommendations for changes were appropriate with the Architects and Engineering consultants on these associated projects.

This project will be funded by Capital Projects projected to run approximately 3 years. Accountabilities
Accountable for scope of work definition and prioritization for each scope of work, particularly for multiple projects. Ensures prioritization is reflective of stakeholder needs. Ensures all services and materials procurement for assigned projects are optimized and compliant with University procurement policy. Responsible for assigned projects’ completion on time, on budget and within University design standards and relevant codes. Professional Experience/ Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of related experience in project management, construction administration, architecture or engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required; 7-10 years of related experience in project management, construction administration, architecture or engineering is preferred for consideration of a senior level appointment.
  • Demonstrated progressive project experience with increasing project complexity required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at various phases of development required.
  • Must possess an intimate knowledge of all elements of planning, design, and construction, i.e. methods, systems, materials, contract enforcement and building code requirements.
  • Demonstrated competence with project management software applications such as AutoCAD, MS Office Pro and Microsoft Project.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively with campus groups and facilities department constituencies; the ability to work independently, and a willingness to assume significant responsibility required.
  • Must be capable of working collegially with a diverse group of faculty, staff and students on a daily basis.
  • Must be a licensed professional engineer.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a post-secondary environment is highly desirable.
  • Project Management Professional certification desirable.
  • LEED AP professional high desirable.
Education
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
