Assistant Director of Facilities



Job Description:

Champlain College is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Facilities. This role is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the Facilities Department including budgeting, scheduling, human resource management, planning for capital construction/renovation and operations. This role is responsible for overseeing the administrative functions and technical operations i.e. mechanical, structural, grounds, and outside vendors and agencies associated with the campus.

We are looking for a team player who has exceptional interpersonal skills building relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, strong financial and accounting acumen, working knowledge of, or aptitude to learn, computer systems/software for the administrative management of facilities and the ability to serve as command central for the department.

We are also looking for a skilled professional with experience in a technical discipline such as construction management, engineering, architecture, building management, or similar area of expertise. You should be able to demonstrate technical and managerial ability in the coordination of a variety of areas encompassing property management, ?nance and staf?ng. Management experience is required.

The Assistant Director plays a critical role in ensuring every Facilities team member plays their role in sustainability. Facilities staff members are an integral component in identifying areas for improvement, being aware of sustainability opportunities and implementing creative solutions across the operational areas of campus.

This is an in-person position that requires physically being on campus daily and does not have any remote work potential.


Requirements:

  • 4-6 years experience in managing staff and ideally operating in a college environment
  • A High School diploma or GED required
  • A four-year degree with an emphasis in management is recommended
  • The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree
  • Clean driver's license required (subject to Motor Vehicle record check)
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Ability to perform physical labor as needed
