Job Description:

Champlain College seeks a Campaign Director to support the implementation and successful completion of a comprehensive campaign. The Campaign Director will be responsible for the day-to-day planning, coordination, and management of the campaign. The position is both strategic and tactical, incorporating all components of a campaign from the leadership gift phase through the launch and implementation of the public phase. The Campaign Director will be responsible for deepening the prospective donor pipeline, developing cultivation and solicitation strategies, shaping donor stewardship efforts, and maintaining accurate and up-to-date information on campaign goals, donors, and prospects. The Campaign Director will work closely with the senior leadership, the Board of Trustees, key volunteers, and campaign consultants.

This position has the option to be structured as a full-time position permanent role within the Advancement department, or a full-time contract position for the life of the campaign.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with senior staff, the Board of Trustees, and volunteer campaign leadership to manage, update, and implement a strategic plan for the campaign
  • Oversee a robust pipeline of prospects by driving the development and execution of strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of campaign donors
  • Maintain a comprehensive campaign timeline and organize the pipeline of prospective donors to ensure timely activity and progress towards campaign benchmarks
  • Regularly evaluate progress towards goals and benchmarks, prepare timely progress reports for senior staff and volunteer leaders, and recommend revisions to the campaign plan and timeline, as needed
  • Partner with senior staff and campaign volunteers on solicitations by preparing briefing and solicitation materials, providing strategic guidance, and assisting with donor communications
  • Manage campaign volunteer committees by assisting in volunteer recruitment, coordinating meetings, helping set strategy, and training volunteers on campaign best practices
  • Perform prospect research as needed to gather detailed information on prospect background, giving history, and potential philanthropic interests to inform request strategies
  • Develop donor-facing correspondence, including letters, invitations, briefings, and other mailings
  • Oversee the writing and development of campaign print and electronic collateral and coordinate their design and production
  • Manage timely donor acknowledgment and execute appropriate stewardship activities
  • Continue to inform the suite of relevant campaign reports, as necessary
  • Ensure campaign prospect activity is accurately recorded and tracked in the database
  • Create campaign-related materials; brochures, pamphlets, external communications, and update case statement as needed



Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required, with a minimum of five (5) years professional experience in fundraising with specific experience in capital campaigns, individual giving and/or major gifts
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully in-person, on the phone, and via email/text with donors, board members, volunteers, and colleagues
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet concurrent deadlines, organize time and priorities, and to do so in collaboration with diverse stakeholders
  • Capable of working effectively with senior staff, the Board of Trustees, key volunteers, donors and prospective supporters, and consultants
  • Superior oral and written communication skills. Keen ability to write from multiple voices to a broad range of audiences
  • Proficiency with office technology and donor information systems. Raisers Edge experience strongly preferred
