Fundraising & Marketing Manager for the Center for Financial Literacy

Job Description:

Champlain College seeks a Fundraising & Marketing Manager to fundraise specifically for our Center for Financial Literacy. This two-year, donor-funded position will fundraise from corporate and foundation sources to support enrollment in the Center for Financial Literacy's graduate-level online course as well as for professional development, nationally acclaimed National Report Cards for State Efforts to Improve Financial Literacy in High Schools, and other related CFL programs.

The Fundraising & Marketing Manager will report to the Assistant Vice President of Government, Corporate & Foundation Relations within the Advancement team and maintain a close working relationship with the Director of the Center for Financial Literacy. The role will also engage with multiple internal and external constituents to both market and advance the profile and success of the Center. Given the high national profile of the Center and the potential to lift the brand of the College, the successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills and will be knowledgeable on advancing external relationships to the benefit of both the Center and the College.

The Fundraising & Marketing Manager will build on the work of the Center and its talented Director to fundraise scholarships, create marketing assets that promote the online course and other CFL offerings, refresh the CFL Website and other marketing assets to best position the CFL with donors, maintain existing relationships and build new partnerships that advance the work of the Center and College. This individual will be high-energy and self-motivated and also able to work across multiple teams to realize the goals of the Center and Department. The successful candidate will have: strong organizational skills; engaging interpersonal skills, business savvy, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the willingness and ability to travel as part of the position.

General Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a portfolio of 20-30 foundations and corporations, including establishing and maintaining relationships with key personnel, in order to support fundraising efforts
  • Write proposals for funding and providing requisite reporting
  • Refresh and create marketing assets for key CFL offerings to support fundraising efforts
  • Write press releases and develop marketing materials
  • Serve as a key relationship manager for the program, stewarding and maintaining relationships with stakeholders such as state offices, educational agencies, and financial institutions
  • Provide internal reporting and external stewardship of contacts and gifts related to CFL fundraising
  • Work as an integral member of the Advancement team, supporting both the Assistant Vice President of Government, Corporate & Foundation Relations and the Director of the Center for Financial Literacy in their fundraising goals


The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor's degree and possess 5-7 years of experience in financial services organizations, sales, fundraising, marketing or related fields. Excellent written and oral communication skills, a proven record of fundraising success, strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work both independently and collaboratively and a desire to make an impact. Experience with Raiser's Edge or similar and an interest in financial literacy preferred. Potential for a hybrid in-person/virtual work environment with some travel required.
