Located in sunny Miami, Florida, St. Thomas University is a private, non-profit university that offers 39 undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate degrees at its picturesque 144-acre campus and through distance learning. POSITION SUMMARY

St. Thomas University is seeking a full-time professor for our criminal justice degree program. The position will start in the Fall semester beginning in August 2022. The candidate must be willing to serve and teach in the undergraduate on-campus environment. The candidate needs to be willing to also teach in the graduate criminal justice program as needed and potentially in the online modality, if required.

Major emphasis of the program in criminal justice is to provide students with strong research and criminal justice practical skills, to help them gain necessary tools and experience to pursue competitive professional careers in the criminal justice system, public administration, law, political service, business, and other related fields. Students will especially be prepared for a criminal justice degree and/or further graduate studies.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Doctorate in criminal justice or criminology
  • Demonstrated on campus teaching and practical expertise in one or more of the following areas: criminology, criminal justice, advanced research methods, curriculum design and development, student organization advising, and support with student recruiting and retention
  • Candidates should be involved in national organizations relating to higher education and criminal justice studies
Tuition Benefit

After 1 year of continuous full‐time service, employees are eligible to enroll in STU’s bachelor and master courses, tuition‐free. The program will cover a maximum timeframe of 125% of credit hours attempted toward the degree program. Employees may enroll in STU’s doctoral program, with a 40% tuition discount, under the same conditions.
