Position Summary

The Asian Studies Program at Bowdoin College invites applicants for a part-time visiting lecturer position in Chinese language to begin July 1, 2023. The initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of renewal for one additional year. Applicants are required to have the following: native or near-native fluency in Chinese and English; a MA in Linguistics, Foreign Language Pedagogy, Second Language Acquisition, or related field; and teaching experience at the college level in the United States. The successful candidate will teach a 1-2 annual course load of upper and lower-level language courses, as well as contribute to the program through activities such as participation in Chinese language table, advising on study abroad, etc. Bowdoin is a highly supportive environment; the successful candidate will be eligible for conference travel support and to apply for research and other professional development funds.

Review of applications will begin on December 17, 2022 and continue until the position is filled. Finalists will interview on Zoom and will be asked to teach a Bowdoin class over Zoom.
