Position Announcement

Working within the Facilities Management department within the area of Operations & Energy, this position maintains and repairs campus water systems, sewers, drains, and piping systems, as well as assists with preventative maintenance, project plans and specifications review, and code compliance. Responsibilities
  • Perform plumbing repair and maintenance on hot and cold-water systems.
  • Repair and replace faucets, toilets, urinals, sinks, and backflow preventer systems.
  • Repair, unplug, and clean campus drain and sewer systems.
  • Repair and install gas and oil piping.
  • Repair HVAC boiler water and chilled water systems.
  • Maintain and repair high pressure irrigation and sprinkler systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED + State of Utah journeyman certification required.
  • At least four years' related experience, plus a valid Driver's License, required; experience with multiple facets of preventative maintenance preferred.
  • Considerable knowledge of work methods and materials associated with plumbing field, including gas and oil piping, plumbing technology, systems, etc.; good knowledge of plumbing tools and equipment, with ability to use such items.
  • Ability to read and design plumbing schemas and blueprints to analyze and locate work projects.
  • Good knowledge of all plumbing code compliance laws, rules, and regulations such as: MSDS, CFCs, backflows, PCBs, asbestos, confined space entry, uniform plumbing and mechanical codes, etc.
  • Must be able to lift more than 30 pounds (lift test will be required prior to job start date).
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to exercise basic human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with the university community.
  • Must be able to work standard hours from 7 am to 4 pm and to respond to occasional evening and weekend emergency callbacks as needed.
Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time classified staff (overtime-eligible) position. Annual salary of $56,000, with a desired start date as soon as possible.
