Job Description:

Raritan Valley Community College has an anticipated opening for a Coordinator in the Center for Accessibility & Inclusive Education (CAIE).

Reporting to the Director of the Center for Accessibility and Inclusive Education, the position will assist in the coordination for services for students registered with the CAIE. The position supports the integration of services for students with disabilities into the college community, and serves as a resource for constituents that rely on the center for information.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Works to support the Director and Assistant Director of Center for Accessibility and Inclusive Education  with daily operational responsibilities for the Department. 

Coordinates accommodations for students including note taking services, alternate format books, reader/scribe requests, and assistive technology.

Maintains accurate records of rental equipment and requests.

Receives walk-in visitors and telephone inquiries and responds knowledgeably to questions concerning programs and services offered at RVCC, and makes appropriate referrals when necessary.

Collects documentation and completes intake appointments for students seeking academic accommodations.

Responds to requests for information regarding registering with CAIE, requesting and receiving accommodations, and general college information.

Maintains highly sensitive and confidential reports and correspondence of student, faculty, administrator, and staff records and documentation.  

Provides accommodation letters to students.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in counseling, social work, education or related discipline. Masters preferred. 
  • Basic knowledge of Section 504 and ADA.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing student support in a college setting.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and work to support student success.

Preferred:

  • One year of experience in learning assistance and/or disability services in a college setting.
