Be yourself and start your career here. Help us build a better Brockport! Job Summary: SUNY Brockport is accepting applications for an Environmental Health and Safety Technician (EH&S). The EH&S Technician manages and coordinates the annual Office of Fire Prevention and Control (OFPC) inspection. They will schedule and oversee the testing and inspection of all fire alarm, fire protection, and life safety systems and equipment on campus. Additionally, they will carry out field tasks to ensure compliance with fire and life safety programs and various EH&S regulatory programs; present activities and programs in the areas of fire prevention and life safety; and provide event support. Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university or a High School diploma with three years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge or experience in overseeing the testing and inspection of building fire and life safety equipment and conducting building fire and life safety inspections.
- Experience using Microsoft Word Suite (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, or Word).
- Ability to educate campus community regarding the significance of accident prevention, compliance and fire code using verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students, college community and external constituencies, with an appreciation for cultural and group differences.
- Ability to lift 25 - 50 pounds.
- Walk and stand for extended periods of time (4-6 hours).
- Climb ladders and stairs while carrying equipment.
- Ability operate aerial platform lifts.
- Work in various weather elements.
- NICET certification in Fire Protection or Building Safety Inspector certification
