The Salve Regina University Counseling Education Program is seeking applications from Counselor Educators with expertise in the realm of Rehabilitation Counseling. This tenure-track, full-time faculty member would primarily teach online rehabilitation counseling courses, with opportunities to teach in-person classes that are cross-listed with the Mental Health Counseling track. We are seeking qualified applicants who have a strong rehabilitation counseling identity, and who are excited about the prospect of providing education in an environment that aligns with our mission and philosophy, highlighting the importance of mercy and justice in effective education. Salve Regina offers both 60 credit programs in two counseling tracks: an online Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling track and an in-person Clinical Mental Health Counseling track with a focus on holism. We currently offer an online 48 credit CACREP (formerly CORE) approved Rehabilitation Counseling program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Each full-time, tenure-track faculty member is required by the university and the program to engage with the following job tasks:
  • Maintaining a full-time course load (3 courses/4 courses) during the 9-month academic contract year, with opportunities for summer teaching if desired. This faculty member will be predominantly teaching in the Rehabilitation Counseling program, with opportunities for teaching CACREP core classes based on the needs of the department and the expertise of the applicant
  • Constructing and maintaining course content through the university learning management system (LMS)
  • Maintaining a cohesive research and scholarship agenda
  • Engaging in service both at the University level and in the counseling/ counselor education professions
  • Advising and mentoring clinical rehabilitation counseling students
  • Participating in continual professional development and active in the counselor education profession
  • Attending regular university, department, and program meetings to ensure a collaborative and cohesive work environment
  • Collaborate with the Graduate Counseling Director, Evaluation Coordinator, and the Clinical Coordinator
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Graduate Program Director
  • Develop scholarly work in the field of Rehabilitation or Mental Health Counseling

Requirements:
  • Earned doctorate (by start date) in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited program
  • A specialization in rehabilitation counseling
  • Evidence of counseling, supervision, and teaching experience in Counselor Education
  • A teaching perspective that is grounded in rehabilitation and mental health counseling
  • Pedagogy that integrates the University's Five Critical Concerns as they related to mental health counseling (immigration, anti-racism, women's issues, non-violence, and the earth), equity, multiculturalism, holism, or systemic injustice
  • An ability to teach both online and in person
  • The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements in the U.S. at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue to work legally for the proposed term of employment
Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants with:
  • A specialization in rehabilitation counseling (strongly preferred)
  • A Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) or eligible to become certified
  • Experience working as a Rehabilitation Counselor
  • Be a licensed mental health counselor or license eligible in Rhode Island or have the ability to transfer the license to Rhode Island within a year
  • A justice-centered perspective of Counselor Education with a projected research agenda or established research line that centers working with diverse populations, specifically related to race
  • Work experience with underserved populations
  • Work experience with not-for-profit or grassroot organizations that prioritize racial equity
